Authors retain copyright in their work; they are granting the world a license to use it, not transferring ownership away.

Because every article is open access on publication, there's no embargo to observe. Authors may deposit the preprint, accepted manuscript, or published version in any repository immediately.

The CC BY 4.0 license explicitly permits text and data mining of published articles, subject to the same attribution requirement.
