Article processing charges
There is no fee to submit or to have a manuscript reviewed. An article processing charge (APC) applies only after a manuscript is accepted, and it is set according to the corresponding author's institutional country.
General - $499
Corresponding author affiliated with a high-income economy
Middle-income - $249
Corresponding author affiliated with a lower- or upper-middle-income economy
Low-income - $99
Corresponding author affiliated with a low-income economy
Country categories follow the World Bank's Country Income Classification, which the World Bank updates every July using Gross National Income per capita (Atlas method). As of the current classification, low-income economies include countries such as Afghanistan, Burkina Faso, Chad, DR Congo, Ethiopia, Somalia, Sudan, and Yemen; this list is illustrative and not exhaustive, and it changes yearly, so the exact category is confirmed against the current World Bank list at the time of acceptance.

The APC is invoiced only after acceptance and plays no role in the review or editorial decision. Editors and reviewers evaluating a manuscript are not informed of its APC category.
